Will Nikon FA Matrix Metering work with Tamron Lense?

My father gave me his old Nikon FA to play with. It came with a Tamron SP 35-210mm lens. I'm wondering if the FA's "matrix metering" will work with this lens, or if I should always/only use "center weighted" metering when using the Tamron.

I would be surprised if not all metering modes would work, it should be an "either all or none" thing.
