Which wide angle lens?
I'm in need of a wide angle lens. Nikkor 24mm 1.4 or 35mm 1.4? I shoot mostly people, not one for landscapes. I have a 50 & 85mm already. Love prime lenses.
If you are doing portraits, you want to avoid wide angle lenses, unless you are going for environmental portraiture or looking to deliberately distort your subject.
I have the 50mm and the 85mm (& a 135mm) all for street/portraits. I do also use a 24-70mm f2.8 in the studio.
If you are short of room, the 35mm can be a boon, but avoid getting too close to your subject with it.
Your question is totally contradictory and makes no sense. Why do you need a wide angle lens if you are "not one for landscapes" and shoot "mostly people"? That just makes no sense. Your 50 and 85 are perfect lenses for people shots. What is it that is making you think you need a wide angle lens?
What camera? Full frame of APS-C?
If full frame then nothing wider than 35mm for people - even that will distort on close-up
If APS-C then 24mm is just about 35mm equivalent - so same applies. OK for including person in a scene but too wide for close-up portraits.
