Which is a better lens to use for firework photography?

Hi can anyone help me with my question? This coming 4th July will be my first time taking a firework photography, so is it okay to use a 50mm f1.8? I'm just starting out and Nikkor 50mm f1.8 and 18-105mm f3.5-5.6 are the only lenses I've got. I need a professional answer for this.many thanks!

Added (1). Nikkor 50mm f1.8 + hoods
Nikkor 18-105mm f3.5-5.6 + hoods
I have a tripod

Additional Information: I understand how exposure and ISO and Aperture and Shutter work, I just need an opinion as to which lens to use.

Fireworks you tend to work with longer shutter speed, several seconds. I'd go for whatever you have a lens hood for, stray light really messes up a long exposure

What lens to use is going to be determined by how far away you are from the fireworks. If you are shooting a backyard display then the 50mm will be fine. If you are shooting a large display from a block or more away you'll want the longer lens. Unless your shooting location is near street lights or other direct light pollution sources you probably won't need the lens hood but it won't hurt to leave it on either.
