Is it worth to buy an old Nikkormat FT3 film slr?
I saw one, priced around $100 in a yard sale., I like the body design… Gives that vintage look kind of thing… And from what i research, its one of the rarest camera model that nikon have produced in years… Will my money be worth it to buy the used SLR film camera? Right now I have my own compact camera… So, what will it be? Should i go for the 1977 made camera or stick with my newer digital compact camera?
If you want a film camera, the Nikkormat is one of my favorite. The only drawback is the gaping opening where the meter connects to the lens, which can allow dirt inside the camera. I don't know if this was an actual problem or just one that seemed like a problem to me.
If you already own a digital camera, you won't be getting rid of it. You will use both.
I don't know what current market value is on a Nikkormat, but I think I'd pay $100 without a moment's thought, if the camera was in working order.
If it works it is a great buy.
It is better if you already have a Nikon digital system.
I still use a Nikon F2 (circa 1973) and a F4 (circa 1988) when I shoot 35 mm film. The lenses I use with them (Nikkor AI manual focus lenses) work fine on my Nikon D200, D300, D800 and D3

Here is the manual for that camera

That's not an especially good deal. They cost about the same as that on eBay.
If you really like how it looks and you just want to have it as a collector, then sure, buy it. But if you want a camera to actually use, you should probably stick with your digital camera. I personally use film cameras, but I have really specific reasons for doing so. They're much harder and more expensive to work with.
