How to make my Nikon N75 work again. Make fEE go away

I just got a "new" Nikon N75 second hand from a friend. I bought batteries and film for it yesterday and it worked for about ten minutes, after then "fEE" appeared on the screen and in the eye piece. I thought that it was my lens, because when I looked up how to make it go away, I was told to set my lens on the smallest aperture, I set it on 22 and locked it. Yet, fEE still showed up. I took out my lens and cleaned it, thinking maybe it was dirty and wasn't being read properly, but fEE still came up. I've done everything I feel like, what's wrong with my camera?
Please Help ME!
The lens I'm using is a AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D

Clean the contacts (not the lens) and remount the lens.
Does this occur only with the 50 mm f/1.8 or your other lenses as well?
You can give Nikon a call and someone there can help you I'm sure

Nice camera by the way

Did the lens f stop ring move out of place? It locks in when your using it with a small latch and if it is not locked and your using the camera in most modes it will not work right.
THis is just the first place I would check.

Turn the aperture ring to the smallest setting (e.g.: f/22).
Click the aperture ring locking switch into place.
