Can I use Nikon lenses on Canon cameras?
I'm going to buy a prime lens and I'm thinking about Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G. I don't know which I should go with. Can I use Nikon lenses on Canon EOS 500D if I get the Nikon one?
Only with an adapter
but…
you will lose autofocus and a stop of light, basically making one of the highlights of the lens go away
for canon, buy canon
Not really
Yes, you can buy an adapter to attach a Nikkor lens on a Canon, but you lose all the auto-features dSLR cameras have; Auto-focus, precise light meter readings and control of the lens aperture using the cameras controls
You picked a Canon system, so stick with Canon accessories.
