Is the Olympus OM1 better than Nikon FE10?

Both are capable of using extremely high quality lenses, so they will both take equally good photos.

The OM1 is smaller, lighter and is fully mechanical. The battery is only needed for the light meter and without it exposure can be estimated based upon experience and the Sunny 16 Rule. The FE10 is fully electronic, and will not work without the battery. The OM1 battery (banned mercuric oxide PX625) is no longer available, but it can use adapters which accept modern button cells and which reduce the voltage to the correct 1.35v.

The OM1 is a full system SLR with a huge number of interchangeable accessories. It was also built as a professional quality model and has a number of weather seals on the body. The FE10 on the other hand, was built very cheaply as a base model introductory SLR. It is not as rugged or reliable, accepts far fewer Nikon System accessories, and wasn't even designed and built by Nikon as it's effectively a bought in rebadged Cosina with a Nikon mount.

So, from an adaptability and build quality basis, the OM1 is the winner. I also prefer the ergonomics and simplicity of the OM1 and still regularly use a late model OM1n in places I'd never dare risk a modern digital SLR. But I repeat that both cameras are capable of taking equally good photographs.

Yes, but only because the FE-10 was built by Cosina (Nikon didn't have the space or the inclination).

The true match for the OM-1 would be the Nikon FM - a vastly superior camera on paper.
