Is the new Nikon 20mm F/1.8G faster than the 24mm F/1.4G?
EDWIN
No. An f/1.8 aperture is 2/3 of a stop slower than an f/1.4 aperture. If you were shooting in low light with the f/1.4 lens and at ISO 200 achieved a shutter speed of 1/125 sec. And changed to the f/1.8 lens your shutter speed would decrease to 1/80 sec. Which is 2/3 slower than 1/125 sec. To maintain the 1/125 sec. Shutter speed with the f/1.8 lens would require using an ISO of 320 which is 2/3 of a stop faster than ISO 200.
