Ideas for photography?

I have a nikon DSLR with a tripod and a mac. I recently discovered the 'Image Capture' app that lets me take pictures every set amount of time, I used this to make a time lapse of the sky (http://9gag.com/gag/aPyyN0B?ref=noti) apologies for the strange choice of website but I was looking for any other effective methods of using the equipment I have to take photos.
I enjoy taking photos of plants and landscape.

I'm not a photographer, but maybe just using different lenses? I know with like a fish eye lens you can create cool distortions. Also there's lots of editing software out there, Final Cut Pro is great for any film work.
