So i want to buy my 1st nikon DSLR camera i have had other cameras that were not so good like polaroid and stuff but now i'm really in to photography and i'm experienced in it too! So i want a camera that is under $1, 000 but not over $900.00 and i want really good picture quality and good features too i don't really care as much about the video just the pictures and i would like to have auto focus. So which camera is right for me? Can anyone please help me?

Sounds to me like you should look at nikon's d3100, preferably with the 18-105 if they sell that in your country

Under $1000 but not over $900.So under $900? Right?
The D5100 is the best camera Nikon has under $900.It is a pretty significant step up from the D3100.It's still an entry level camera and it does not have the auto focus motor in the body, so you will have to purchase lenses with the AF motor in them which will cost you a bit more in each lens down the line. But if you purchase the AF-s lenses it will auto focus just fine for you.

If you want a camera with the AF motor in the body you have to step up in budget to the D7000 in Nikon or switch to a Canon which have no auto focus conflicts regarding the motor.

As was said. The Nikon D3100 kit.

First, you basically mean below $900?

Second, all DSLRs have great image and video quality, especially 2005+ ones.

Nikon D5100 and D3100 seem like the best options for you, D5100 has one stop higher ISO, less noise and a bigger body. D3100 is lighter, smaller, same quality, same video. Get the D3100 if you're looking for a small camera with brilliant performance, or D5100 if you need the audio jack and will often shoot in low light.

Like everyone suggests. D7000 or D3100. Buy them with the kit lens.
