I want to buy a wide angle lens, advice on buying?
My mother used to have an old Nikon film camera, one of the lens she had for it was a wide angle lense. It was really good, it couldn't zoom thought. I don't really know much about lenses, but I have a fair bit of extra cash so I would like to start saving up. I have £200 at the moment, but could save up to about £350 within six months with my job. (I'm fourteen)
I googled it just now, and got really mixed results of loads of different types. So am a little confused. I have a Canon 350D, with two other lenses, and a flash. I'm really keen to start a career in photography when I'm older, this isn't just on a whim.
So yes, any advice on buying?
This is a picture taken with my mums wide angle lens on her nikon(at least I think its this one), in case it helps at all. We sold the lens, so I don't know anything about it.
What lenses do you have already? I assume that you own a 18-55mm kit lens that came with your DSLR.
Are you sure that you want something wider than 18mm? The photo that you linked isn't exactly a showcase example for using such a special lens.
Anyway, given the budget, your options are very limited. There's either the Tamron 10-24mm or the Sigma 10-20mm. Out of these two i'd recommend the Sigma, it has a slightly better reputation (i have used neither though). Both are close to £350.

Other versions or similar lenses e.g. Made by Tokina or Canon itself easily cost £500+
Depends what you mean by "wide". If you have the lens that came with your 350D, you'll have a 18-55mm, 18mm is pretty wide.
If however you want to go ultra-wide, then the Sigma 10-20mm is cheap. I have it.
