I need a new camera, possibly inexpensive?

I'm looking for a new camera right now I'm currently using a Kodak Playtouch. As a Youtube i want to get a better camera. I have considered the Nikon 5100d and the canon rebel t3i. The Canon is way over my price range but the Nikon I might be able to afford. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations but I want it to have focus, I believe that what its called when you turn the lenses to focus it and it has to upload in HD. Price range $0 to $300/400 if possible but not over $700. Also if you have ever used one how is the Canon rebel t3 compared to the t3i

But if you want something cheap you have to compromise with features.
