I need a new camera! Any advice?

Well I'm 16 and I'm really really into photography. I didn't do it for GCSE because I didn't know how much I enjoyed it then, but I'm doing it for A Level in September!

I have a FujiFilm Finepix S2000HD which is pretty rubbish for getting decent photos, I need/want an SLR/DSLR!

I have a job but don't earn that much so I can't part with a huge sum of money! It obviously depends on what sort of camera I get.

I just want advice on what camera to get? Nikon? Canon? Anything better?

Any advice of what to/not to get would be brilliant and extremely helpful - especially if you use your own experience?

I say get an olympus, I have one and it cost me 90 dollars. But if you need the zoom and stuff thay have those too. I love mine and it comes with alot of features and its waterproof. The downside is it has a short battery life. Or you can go for a sony, they are great and have long battery lifes, but they are just a little expensive. Your choice.

I think any of the nikon coolpix series are great cameras. They take very high quality pictures.

Its going to depend on your budget. In general, you should be thinking from $300 to $600 for a quality camera. I would recommend the following:

DSLR

Canon T3, T1i
Nikon D3100 or D500
Pentax KR or KX
Sony A500

Mirrorless and Advanced compact

Canon G12 and S95
Samsung NX100 and TL500
Nikon P300 and P7000
Olympus E-PL1 and XZ-1
Panasonic LX5

Hope this helps

I suggest save more money and buy a DSLR. You may not see much of a difference if you bought another point and shoot super zoom, no matter what brand. Rubbish for getting decent photos from your Fuji S2000HD; what may you be doing wrong to correct this? Have you called Fuji? I just hate to see you waste big bucks because results may be the same as you have now.

I would recommend a canon 1100d, their cheapest, smallest dSLR, great for beginners.

Hi, I need advice. I've got a trusty D3000 camera. I'll be traveling this year and take much more wildlife photos. I also enjoy hiking and taking a camera with me. Do I buy a lens for the old Nikon or do I get the Sony RX10 IV? The lens I'm looking at is Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens I would like to print some of the photos from time to time. The lens I can get new for R11800 and the RX10 is R25800 I'm not sure about the image quality between the old D3000 and the newer RX10. Help will be greatly appreciated. Regards Eugene
