I'm looking for a new camera?
I have a nikon cool pix p100, it is a very good camera and i'm happy with it but i'm looking for a DSLR. I'm looking for a camera with interchangeable lenses, very good picture quality, either a full frame or APS-C sensor, video capture is not a need at all, a reasonable price, and along with interchangeable lenses, a large variety of lenses.
I like to do lots of macro photographs so i would like a camera that is good for macro's.
Nikon d90 comes to mind immediately.
Something to consider is that it is not the Camera that makes macro photos great, but the lens. I have an 8 year old Canon EOS 20D, and with a 50mm Macro Lens on it, I can take way better Macro pictures than a brand new top of the line 5D Mark II with a regular lens. So the point is, if you are on a budget, it is better to get a cheaper Camera, like the T2i or the D3100, rather than the 7D or D7000, and spend more money good Macro lens
If you take the Nikon route, this lens gets great reviews http://www.bhphotovideo.com/..._2_8G.html
If you take the Canon route, this lens gets great reviews http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...Macro.html
Macro abilities on a DSLR camera will be determined more by the lens than the camera itself. Canon, Nikon DSLR cameras, as an example, offer lenses specifically for taking macros and offer a setting on the camera for macro shots.
Check out the websites for Canon USA And Nikon and get some idea of what lenses are offered and at the same time, take a look at the cameras. As a point of interests, many photographers, have a compact camera for macro shots as some high end compacts offer a good quality macro.
The lens and the photographer have more to do with picture quality than any other factors, imo.
Nikon D3100 camera is truly amazing. I bought it about 3 weeks ago, has amazing quality.very portable and light is a major plus. The only thing wrong with it is that it has not bracketing (although it doesn't matter too much because i barely use it). This camera is super cheap for the features you get from it. The video quality is really good. I super recommend getting this camera and you won't regret it.
