How to put nikon on white balance setting?
I have a nikon dx and when I try to put on the white balance setting it says "this control is not available with current settings" what should I do?
Have you read your owner's manual? You may not be able to set the white balance on that camera… It could be fully automatic.
We'd be better off with the individual camera model, but I'm assuming that by DX you mean a cropped-sensor DSLR (D3xxx/D5xxx/D40/D90 etc.).
If so, then these cameras operate on two levels;
1) Subject programme/Automatic. These settings are designed for beginner photographers, so many of the more complex settings are controlled by the camera to prevent mistakes. White balance is one of the settings considered too complex for the inexperienced.
2) P, A, S, M - the classic SLR exposure modes. These allow full control of all settings, including flash off, white balance, colour saturation etc.
If you want to adjust your white balance, you'll have to choose one of these - just keep a note of your settings, so that if something goes wrong, you'll have a chance to work out why.
You need to have the camera in the P, S, A, or M settings most likely.
If you shoot in raw, white balance can be altered in post processing.
Time to read the manual.
Take it away from Auto or any of the Scene modes.
