How to add my copyright on my pictures?
Hi
what i want to ask is if i can set my nikon d310m to automatically add my copyright details on my pictures every time i take a picture?
Is there a setting on the camera that can do that or do i need to use some kind of programme.
Regards
Nikon D3100 can't do it in camera, any recent Pentax model can, the advantage is it tags the Raw images which can't be edited out (Raw files are read only).
You can add any Meta-data to your images automatically as you download them into Photoshop, by creating and naming a Meta-data profile and selecting it on the 'get images from camera' page. This can be edited in any EXIF editor, but most people don't realise it's there.
An example from my Flickr photo-stream
If you scroll to the bottom even my e-mail address is there for people who want to buy the image (it's only happened twice LOL).
Meta-data is used for a lot more than recording copyright, it's how hospitals keep track of who's X Ray they're looking at, Law Enforcement use it to tag all the images from a crime, you can tag any file in PS, audio files, video files even Word documents and Excel spreadsheets can have your meta-data profile inserted into the file using Photoshop, or more accurately in Bridge within Photoshop, which is a far more powerful program than most people realise. There are over 300 categories that can be applied using meta-data.
There are two ways to do that.
* use the image comment on the camera and type in this statement "(C) 2013, Your Name, All rights reserved". Page 140 in your user manual
* when processing your RAW files on Lightroom, include the copyright notice in the metadata of all your images at the same time you are adding keywords, your contact information and any custom white balance
