How much is this camera lens worth?
I was cleaning out my dad's shed today and came across a camera box full of lenses and a Nikon camera f3. I just wanted to know how much the lens that i found is worth? I've looked all over the web and can't find the exact same one with a price. Can anyone tell me? It's in very good condition.
The lens is a:
Carl Zeiss Jena
f=80~200mm
1:4.5~5.6
MC Macro
JENAZOOM
The F3 was last around 1987 when the Nikon F4 was about to be introduced. That means that the lens could be that old.
It is a less expensive lens than the Nikkor 80-200 mm f/2.8 zoom so was very popular among advanced amateurs and some pros who did not need the speed of the Nikkor.
I was able to find that lens but made for the Pentax K-mount system which sold for £39.99
My guess is that you might get up to $50 for it if you sell it on craigslist.
Looks like it had a limited distribution since it was from East Germany during the Cold War.

This person couldn't sell his for $100.

While they are rare, apparently there just isn't a demand for them.
CZJ lenses are quite controvertial, some people like them, others frown upon their communist roots. If you get lucky, you'll get £80 for a mint condition one, but another week you may only get £20. The CZJ 80-200mm simply isn't one of the "famous" lenses.
