Nikon SLR Cameras

High quality, moderately priced dSLRs?

I'm in the market for a new dSLR. The maximum I'm able to spend is about $800, but I'm hoping to find something between $600-700 if possible. I much prefer Canon, but I use a Nikon at work so I'm open to those and suggestions for any others. I'd like for it to be able to record HD video as well.

I'm also planning on being abroad for 4-5 months next year, so bigger is not necessarily better in my case.

I was even looking at some of those new "cross over" type cameras, where the body is closer to the size of a typical digital camera, but has special dSLR style lenses. Like these:

I've been looking at the Canon T3i and similar models.

Any suggestions?

All DSLRs are high-quality.

Go to a camera shop and try out the Nikon D3200, Rebel T3i and the Sony A37. See which one feels more comfortable to use.

If you want a fairly compact camera for your overseas trip, get the Sony NEX you posted.

Regardless of which camera you buy, you'll also need a genuine spare battery, 2 or 3 8GB Class 10 SDHC cards, a card reader and a case.

All DSLRs are high quality. It just depends on what you like and feel comfortable with. I'd suggest you get the Canon T3i. Its great for stills as well as videos. Will give you exceptional shots, no doubt about that. As far as videos are concerned i believe the Canons are better at videos than Nikons. But than it could just be me.
