If you prefer Nikon Cameras you can go for the coolpix S3100 (14 megapixels, 5x optical zoom).It's currently for about 7k in the market, but you can probably get it cheaper online.

I'm suggesting you only Nikon products because Nikon produces good featured cameras at cheaper rate when compared to Sony and Canon.
