Which of these camera sets would you choose?
Let's say it's for wedding shoots
Nikon D700
24mm f/1.4G
50mm f/1.4G
85mm f/1.4G
105mm f/2.8G Macro
200mm f/2G
Canon 7D
16-35mm f/2.8L
24-70mm f/2.8L
70-200mm f/2.8L II
100mm f/2.8L Macro
The Nikon D700 is a full frame camera
The Canon 7D uses a cropped sensor.
Here are the lenses most used by wedding photographers
24-70 mm f/2.8
50 mm f/1.8 (cropped sensor cameras) or 85 mm f/1.8 (full frame cameras) for portraits
70-200 mm f/2.8
It is rare that a wedding photographer uses a macro lens
Both companies make those lens ranges. The Nikon ED lens is similar to Canon L (Luxury) lenses in that they both show reduced ghosting or lens flare when compared to non-ED or non-L lenses under identical lighting conditions
Here is how those two cameras sensors compare head to head in performance tests

As you see, it is the size of the sensor, NOT the number of pixels that populate it that provides better performance, thus higher quality images. As long as the user is a competent photographer
I like the Nikon option. Why? All primes!
I prefer the prime lenses with the Nikon also. The macro lens can come in handy for close ups of the flowers, rings, and cake topper.
