What's good and bad about the Nikon D800?
I need to know good or bad things abotu the nikon D8000
Not much bad to say about it. It is an awfully good camera and has the highest ever rated sensor (dxoMark).
Having the highest rated sensor doesn't mean it's the best. You have to dig into the data to determine that. After you look at the data from DxOmark, the image sensor in the D800 scores no better, on paper, than the image sensor in the D7000.so most likely, its technology is probably very similar, or the same, and it's just worked up to a larger full frame sensor.
in reality, the image quality is very good, but at high ISO (in low light) it's not as stunning as DxOmark scores would suggest. The Nikon D700 full frame dSLR from 2008 that uses a D3 sensor from 2007 has better looking RAW files at high ISO than the D800.
The advantages of the D800 are a semi pro build for the body, Nikon's most advanced AF, and at low ISO very good color accuracy, and incredible dynamic range. All that resolution is great for those that wish to make very large prints, like 20x30 inches for example and even larger.
downside, adding all those pixels means more noise, even at ISO as low as 800.It's a DATA hog, all those RAW files are going to clog up hard drives fast, and the cost of the body is very high.
From a stills point of view, the D800 can't do anything that the much cheaper D7000 can do resolution aside, the image quality is no better.
I think bad.
- Buying used Nikon D60? What is good and what is bad in it?
- I want a good but cheap flash for my nikon D3000 (and D800 in the future)?

- Sold my camera feel bad and guilty?
- Is the Nikon D600 just as good as the D800 in low light/high ISO conditions? - 1
