What dose Al, al-s and non-al lens mean? What kind of lens dose a d200 use?
I want to buy an adpter ring from a Nikon D200 to a Sony Nex VG10 and i found one form
Al/Al-s/Non-Al nikon lens to E-mount for sony NEX VG-10. Will that be suitable for a Nikon 200?
AI is a type of predictive autofocus that tracks motion. It is really useful for a subject moving at you. With AI mode, when you are focusing on a subject that is moving towards or away from you the auto focus will track movement and stay focused on the subject. It will also factor in the shutter lag time, and predict where the subject will be from the time you press the shutter release to the time the image is actually captured.
AI-servo is a combination between AI and Single Shot mode. It will predict if the subject is moving or not and automatically select between AI and Single shot mode depending on if the subject is moving.
A D200 can use either lens. A non AI lens will still allow autofocus but not AI tracking.
Personally I probably use AI or AI-Servo modes less than 0.1% of the time, even when shooting sports.
Non-al is for shooting still subject
al is for shooting moving subject, your camera will focus for you even if the subject moved.
al-servo is a combination of them, if the camera found out that the subject moved, it will automatically switch to al and focus it for you.
I never use al even when sports(except basketball, maybe)
