Nikon D700 Lens Fitting? 50mm f1.8?

Ok, so this is probably a really simple thing to answer but i'm a little confused. I had a nikon D80 and upgraded to a D700. Therefore i'm aware some of the newer lenses i own have a DX crop which when appearing in the D700 have a black vignette. What i'm wondering is how do i know i'm not going to buy a lens with this crop? Is there a way to tell? And the Nikon 50mm f1.8 will this work on the D700?

50 mm lenses are full frame lenses
Unless the lens you are interesting in buying has a DX marked on it, it is a lens what will work on your full frame D700

Here's a list that will help you. It lists the DX lenses with a dot, you don't want to buy those for use with the D700.
