I have one question that I have been searching an answer but couldn't find any.
Can I mount FX format lenses to my D300s and do they work as well as DX format lenses on it?
with AF included.

No problem. You can use just about any Nikon lens on a D300s.

The AF issue is only with entry level bodies - those require AF-S or AF-I lenses (either DX or full frame).
The next level up - the D90 - can also use regular AF lenses but it still can't meter with some older manual focus lenses.
The D300s doesn't even have that restriction.

Please don't use that website for the many reviews - at least not as your primary source of information. I link to some better sites for that in my profile info.

No problem.

I have a D300 & mount FX lenses on it - they work just as well as DX format lenses. They also will AF no problem.

The only time you have issues re: DX/FX format is when you want to mount a DX lens on a full frame camera (like the D700 or D3) - the DX lenses will still work, but only the centre of the sensor is used (ie the sensor in effect becomes 'cropped' when a DX lens is mounted on it) so the MP of the sensor (& therefore the size of the image) will be less.

You can use any F mount lens from AI to AF-S. Although, I think you need to focus manually with AI and AI-S. With AF and AF-S, d300s can AF any lens. If you use a FX lens on your d300s, you won't actually be shooting at its normal range. What I mean is, when you use a 50mm AF-D, it would be converted to around 75mm due to DX 1.5x cropping. It would be advantageous on the telephoto end but you loose the wide angle end. I plan to buy FX lenses for my D90 since its more future proof than getting expensive DX only lenses.
