Nikon D300/300d - same camera?

I'm looking for a new camera, and I really like Nikon. Is the D300 and the 300d the same thing?

There's no Nikon 300d. There's a Canon 300D, which is obviously a different camera… And it's worlds apart from the D300.
Then there's also a Nikon D3000, which is a very different camera than a D300 too.
The D300 is a high end prosumer camera, while the D3000 and the Canon 300D are entry level cameras. The 300D also has been long since discontinued.

There's no such Nikon camera as the 300d - there's the D300 and the D300s (which differs only slightly & has video capability).
Canon make a 300D so it looks like you're getting confused between Canon & Nikon models.
The Canon 300D is an old model - 6MP camera which can be had for a couple of hundred quid. The Nikon D300 is a prosumer model the body of which retails at around £1000.
