Nikon d2x shutter error?
My Nikon d2x has a multiple shutter option but occasionally it will continue to take multiple shots after I release my trigger finger from the button. Somebody suggested cleaning the battery… Not so easy. In the meantime, I'm getting hundreds of useless 'extra' shots…
Toss it and get a D700.
When in the multishot mode, just because you start to release pressure on the shutter release, does not mean that the shutter release contacts are disconnected. There's a slight possibility that some grundge got between the shutter release button and its housing. Have a repair guy look at that as a possible cause of "run-on"
How on earth would cleaning the battery do anything? That would be like buying new tires if your engine kept running for a couple of revolutions after you turn off the ignition. Silly
How about this?
Put your fine camera back into the single shot mode and every time you want to capture a shot, press the shutter release. Professional sports photographers have been doing this for decades and seem to be able to time their shots just fine. Hoping that the perfect shot will show up on exactly one of those multiple exposures is wishful thinking.
Timing your shot and shooting at the peak of action is usually the most accurate way to capture stunning action shots.
Bring it back to the store you bought it from and ask them about it. They may recommend it for servicing and may even bring it there themselves if not point you to the right direction.
