Nikon D40X Shutter isues it has a message that reads: Error, Press Shutter?

I have a Nikn D40X body for. The camera has some shutter issues, it has a message that reads: Error, Press Shutter. I don't know to what extent it is "injured"?

So what happens when you press the shutter button? If the problem doesn't go away with a total camera reset, I would contact Nikon and be prepared to send it in for repairs.
