Is it safe to use carbon cleaner brush on my slr lens?

Leif
Would this work? I have a tamron 18-200mm lens on my nikon d200.

I would use only a lens cleaning micro fiber cloth or something that will not scratch the lens.
I do carry a large sized women's makeup brush in my bag for quick dust offs, and it works well
on my UV filters at the front of my lenses but I wouldn't use it on the actual lens - call me cautious but that's what I do.

You mean a lens pen? I've used it before and it's pretty effective in removing smudges on the lens. It's totally safe.
