I have a nikon d800 what lens do I get?

For shooting newborns in a studio
I want two lenses, one for full body and one for a close up

Why do you need 2 lenses for that?
Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 will do both just fine.
Proof that being able to buy equipment has nothing to do with ability to use it.

You've just purchased several grand's worth of top end DSLR and don't know what lens to buy?
I guess you are yet another person who thinks that all you need to go "professional" is a good camera?
Yes, the 24-70 f2.8 will do a great job, but have you considered lighting, backup camera, software, printer and insurance?
If you don't know the equipment at least go on a course. You really should know this stuff if you are doing studio work. Choosing a lens is the easy bit!

You just bought a $2, 800 camera body & don't know what lens to buy? Something " fishy " here!
How about a 35mm 1.8 lens? And a 18-55mm VR.
