How to change the focus point on Nikon D7000?

So my friend bought a new Nikon D7000 and he doesn't know hot to change the focus point to manual selection(default setting in AUTO). I read through the instruction manual(pg. 96) and it says that all I have to do is to push the focus selector lock(or something like that… ) from "L" to the dot then we can move it, but after I do that, the top LCD screen still says AUTO, so does anyone know how?

PS: I don't think that camera is user friendly… Switching focus point on my D300s is a piece of cake…

The changing of the focus point should be no different than that of the D300.

Page 96 of the manual shows that using the multiselector will move the focus point just like the D300

They have the same method of changing the focus point. Nikon really doesn't change those sorts of settings as newer cameras are released.
