Can I use the Nikon 50mm with D700?

Is the Nikon 50mm compatible with the D700? Or which one is please?

Yes. The only problem is that the D-series don't autofocus with the D3000/5000 series bodies. The G-series works with any model.

Any Nikon AF lens can be used with the D700 and will auto focus because the D700 has a focusing motor in the camera body. So feel free to save money by buying the older Nikon AF lenses. No need to spend more for the AF-S versions.
