Would g1x do a good job on car photography?

I'm also considering nikon d3200

Depends on how good you are at car photography. Cameras are tools. The D3200 is a more versatile tool than the g1x. But it's down to you to do a good job, not the camera.

The G1x is a nice pro compact however the Nikon D3200 will be more suitable and more versatile.
