Will this lense still work?

I have bought a NIKON AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D DSLR LENS F1.8 lense. I currently own a D3000. Will this lense still work with my camera?

For the umpteen millionth time… Yes and no.
The lens will mount and everything but the autofocus will work.
WHY is it so hard for people to understand this? Over and over and over we get Nikon users that know nothing about their cameras. If you had bothered to read the manual, it explains that many Nikon lenses will not autofocus on your camera. It even has a table showing which lenses will and will not autofocus… Including this one.

Why would you purchase something without making sure it's compatible with your camera body beforehand?
The AF 50mm f/1.8D lens will fit your camera, but you'll have to manually focus it. Neither your camera body nor the lens have a built-in autofocus motor. If you wanted autofocus capabilities, you should have spent more on the AF-S 50mm f/1.8G lens instead.

It will work just fine but it won't auto focus. The D3000 doesn't have a focusing motor in the camera body and the AF 50mm f/1.8D doesn't have a focusing motor in the lens body. So no auto focus. Only Nikon's more expensive AF-S lenses with a focusing motor in the lens body will auto focus on your D3000.
