Will Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 (non VC) work on Nikon D3200?

I'm buying a DSLR for my little brother for his birthday late summer. I'm planning to buy the D3200 bvody only with a very sharp tamron lens. But I can't find any info about the compatibility with the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens? It's the non VC version. You know with the no internal focusing motor and all…

There are two versions of this lens for Nikon bodies. The A16N version requires the camera to have a focus motor in the body, so that version will have no AF on a D3200. The more recent A16NII has an inbuilt focus motor to enable it to work with bodies such as the D3200.
