Hm, at that RRP I'd also look at the new nikon.

From Sigma's own website:

10. What does HSM stand for and what is it?
HSM stands for Hyper Sonic Motor. It is a new type of motor used in some of Sigma's newer lenses. The technology employed is similar to that used in certain lenses made by other camera manufacturers

So, HSM is sigma's equivelant of AF-S and these will focus fine on your D3000.
