Will an old style Sigma lens work on my Nikon 3000?
I have a Nikon 35mm SLR and I just purchased a Nikon D3000. I wanted to know if my old style Sigma lens would work on my D3000. Its a 28-200mm Lens.
Yes and no.
You have an entry level dSLR and to reduce the cost of them, they use Nikkor AF-S and AF-I lenses if you wish to use auto focus.
The other problem is that the light meter of the D3000 can't be used with manual Nikkor lenses If the lens you have is a Nikkor AF lens, then you can use it on the D3000 and use its light meter, although you will need to use the rangefinder in the D3000 to focus your images.
Put the lens on the camera and see.
If it's a non-electronic lens, it will not meter with your camera - in other words, you'll have to spend $400+ on a light meter and then you'll need to learn how to use the meter etc etc
