Why did the price drop for the nikon d3200?

A few months ago the Nikon D3200 was $599 at best buy, now the price has reduce to $546.99. Will a newer model release? If so when? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm interested in buying the D3200, but I'm willing to wait if a newer model will release.

The new models are coming everytime… Concentrate on the selection on lenses… D3200 features very high res sensor… You will need good quality lenses to get best output.

What DSLR Nikon will release next is a closely guarded secret. Even then, the blogs are all silent about a D3200 replacement. Even though Nikon keeps such secrets, seems like there's a lot of conversation on the rumor blogs months before such replacement occurs. There have been no such rumors that I have seen about a replacement.

Nikon normally has around a 3yr cycle on DSLR upgrades, although there can be exceptions. Since the D3100 was just released a year ago, I doubt you will see a replacement anytime soon.

If you wait until the next model to come out, you may be perpetually waiting forever.

The worst mistake you can make is to chase camera models. If you want a DSLR, now is as good a time as any to buy one. Otherwise, you will be waiting on the next model when you could be out shooting photos and learning. But only you can decide when the right time is to buy.

Thing is, even though a D3200 replacement may have all the latest specs and features, it does not mean that the D3200 is all of the sudden going to be obsolete. A new camera may be an improvement, but I will bet that such improvement will not be significant.

No need to panic. Like all companies (auto included), Nikon is currently offering a series of rebates til the end of June. The D3200 qualifies for a $150 instant rebate, hence the "new lower price".

The D3200 is relatively new, less than a year, and it is the lowest model of Nikon so don't expect much of a price drop until it gets replaced.

The Nikon D3200 is relatively fresh and I can't imagine it being replaced in the near future. New products tend to drop in price shortly after their initial 'launch'. If the D3200 interests you then you should buy it, just make sure that it matches your needs, level of interest, it is a capable product and i'm sure will give you many years of enjoyment.
