Which Speedlight flash would be good for Nikon D5000?

Which Speedlight flash would be good for Nikon D5000 - I liked the Nikon SB 700 with all the features. But did not want to spend $329 just for the brand.what's the equalent flash in other brands. Which will be good to use from beginner till semi-pro level
Added (1). I see the sigma model on this range has long recycle time. Any idea about Nissin Di622 Mark II?

Nikon Speedlight SB-700 AF - Nikon Hot-shoe clip-on flash - 28M ($289)

SB 700AF

I suggest the Sigma EF 610 DG Super. About $230, it has more power than the SB700, is fully TTL compatible, and works great. I've used Sigma flashes for years, and am a big fan.
