Which Nikon DSLR camera?

Found 3 bodies dirt cheap on CL.
Nikon: a d70s, a d40, and a d60.
Looking to purchase as a first dslr so i don't need nothing real fancy. Just for good family portraits & scrapbooking.
So of the three, which do you recommend? None of the bodies are over 250, and two come with the stock lense.

Any of them are good for your needs.

A colleague of mine still uses a D40 because of all the dSLR's it is the only one that can sync with flash at shutter speeds higher than 1/250th second. He uses it when he shoots the X-Games and wants to flash fill in the middle of the day where the shutter speed is right at 1/1000th second. The only other camera that can do that is the old Canon 1D, dslr

Both the D40 and the D70s can sync flash at 1/500 of a second. The D70s has two more auto focus points than the D40 and it is compatible with the older non AF-S lenses.
