Which is a better first DSLR camera?

I wanna buy my first DSLR camera so which is the better choice? I like taking scenery photos more but it'll be great if the camera is good in the different aspects of scenery, portrait etc.

These are my options:
- Olympus Pen Lite E-PL3 [Olympus]
- EOS 550D [Canon]
- DSLR D5100 [Nikon]

The olympus is not a DSLR, but a mirrorless camera

between the 550D and the D5100, choose whichever feels better in your hands.

as for what you want to shoot, that depends on the lens you shoot with. Every DSLR is capable of the same things. Couple a DSLR with a wide angle lens and try to shoot basketball from the nosebleed section will not work, no matter how hard you try.

Why don't you check out the nikon d3100?

Olympus is not a DSLR.

D5100 competes with 600D. 550D is kind of like 600D, but no articulating screen, same sensor, same performance. I'd get the 550D as it's the best buy right now
