Which camera suits my expectations?

I'm starting photography and i also create many little movie/videos. I saw something about the nikon d3100 on tv. Would that work for me? I need a great camera for videos and photography. My budget is $250. Please help!

The D3100 is on sale for around $650 which is $400 over your budget.

For $250 you could get a nice P&S camera that can do good photos and video.
