Which camara is best?

During summer i'm leaving to France. I love to take pictures and i own a Nikon d3100. I wanted to take that one on the trip but its too big and chunky. And i wanted to ask which compact camera would be an option for me. I would like it to have great picture quality and that it isn't too big or heavy. Right now i'm looking at the Sony cybershot dsc rx100.

If image quality is of utmost concern then it's hard to beat Sony RX100 in its class due to its larger than average sensor size (1"). This is also a very compact camera and while not comparable to a DSLR, it does reasonably well in low light environments. OTOH it has only a 3.6x zoom range, lacks a viewfinder and costs quite a bit for a compact!

There are other options like Nikon P7700, Canon G15 and Panasonic LX7 that cost less than the Sony while offering very good performance. All these cameras shoot RAW and are portable enough to be carried into a jacket pocket!
