Added (1). I'm obviously a beginner, don't hate.
A fisheye lens is a lens that has a 180 degree view and can get rounded images
a regular lens can have 2 meanings in this context
1. A lens that is NOT a fisheye lens
or 2. A lens with a normal field of view
you will not get round or extremely distorted images with a "regular" lens in any case
A fisheye by definition "sees" 180°
Sample:
Your "regular" 18-55 mm lens sees from 76° to 29°

A fisheye is required by law if you photograph skaters. It is also advisable to get one as a teen since it's a must to copy other teens creativity. IT gives you a round or almost round and heavily distorted view on the world.
Fish eye effect can be achieved with the 8mm f3.5 bower/opteka/samyang fisheye (works only with the nikonin M mode) or with any of a number of screw-on adapters (nikon's 18-55 kit lens takes 52mm accesories)
