What type of camera filter would I use to cut out everything except UV light?
I have a Nikon D3000 and I used a UV dye to find a leak. I have a UV flashlight, but I want to take a picture of it. The pictures show just a blueish blob and nothing else. Any help is welcomed.
Added (1). Exactly. I'm trying to take a picture of the UV dye while I have the UV flashlight on it.
That website worked. That is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks guys for the help.
Added (2). Camera Guy- Thanks for the info. I actually have an IR filter. I wasn't sure if I would need a UV filter or if there was a setting that I could use on the camera. I think that I will be buying the UV filter.
Everyone thanks for the Info.
It's not clear what you are doing. Digital camera sensors do not respond to UV light. So no filter would serve the purpose, unless you wanted completely black pictures. However, I suspect that the dye responds to UV light by emitting a visible light and you're trying to take a picture of that.Am I right? If so, you probably need a long exposure because the light might not be bright enough. A long exposure would also merit a tripod.
Have a look at this article. This might be what you are trying;
