What settings should my camera be on for child picture? Nikon D60?

I want to take my daughters pics myself and was wondering if anyone could tell me what settings it should be on. Also what picture quality setting it should be on like fine, normal ect.

I shoot *everything* at highest jpg resolution (raw is a waste of space). As far as settings, it depends on your conditions. Try to avoid direct sunlight outdoors (harsh shadows/blown highlights), & watch your WB using flash.

"raw is a waste of space" oh give me a break.
What lens do you have for your D60?
Try shooting at your widest apeture for your lens and a fast enough shutter speed if you are handholding the shot.

Always shoot with your camera set for Large, Fine. You can always make image files smaller with less detail, but NOT the other way around.
Be sure to set the white balance to match the lighting you are shooting.
Make sure that the shutter speed is fast enough to not cause blur from camera or subject movement, like 1/250th second or faster when not using flash.

Your camera manual probably has some tips on what to set your camera for taking pictures of people. Read it.
Settings will depend on what you want. There's no such thing as a standard setting. A portrait of your daughter would use different settings than an action shot of your daughter. Learn about depth of field and aperture (to blur the background). If your kid moves a lot then try using a faster shutter speed and flash (yes I know people hate flash, but it's better than a blurry or dark photo).
As far as quality, obviously you will want the highest quality
