What's a really good DSLR for movie making?

I have a canon rebel t3, I'm not in LOVE with the movie mode. I'm upgrading my camera since I've had this camera for a while now, what should I get? I mainly do youtube videos and short films but I'm also into shooting photography, I was debating between the Canon Rebel t3i, but it doesn't have continuous autofocus, and the Nikon d5100. Now I'm asking you guys. My price range is 500-800 I don't want to get too crazy though. I really love the swivel screens on the canon rebel t31 and the nikon d5100, so I would hope that it would have swivel screens. Also, I don't really want to turn to a camcorder because like I said, I would also like to take pictures.

Here is one, but I'm afraid it may be out of your budget.
Here it is in action.
I personally prefer a real video camera when shooting video.
You are really going to have to visit a camera shop and see which one you like the best.
For about the budget you suggest, you can buy a nice Nikon D5100 or Canon T3i/600D, but I hope you know, you need about $1, 500 to $2, 500 of accessories to make the camera perform like a real video camera

That gear and from the video you watched, cranes and dollies are going to be part of your video projects.

Many still cameras have video functions, and especially the DSLRs with video produce decent enough results. However, if video is important to you, you are MUCH better off with a camcorder.
At this point in time, they still do a much better job (and are much more comfortable) at video and audio recording than still cameras can.

I'd suggest you get the T3i. It has great video shooting abilities. And since you've had some experience with Canons, it wouldn't be wise to get the Nikon. You can also save money by using the same lenses that you used on your T3 on the T3i. Either would be great, its upto your personal preference. Read this review for the T3i to aid in your decision:

You can look for discounts and deals for it here:

Also read the specs and price details for the D5100 to compare the two:

With the left over money, invest in a nice lens like the Canon 50mm, that's cheap yet good.

Well the articulating screen is almost useless, it doesn't have fast auto focus. It's not like on point and shoot cameras.
Your best option would be the T2i and T3i. D5100 doesn't have good continous AF as well, and for serious video everyone uses manual focus.
If you need the better audio control of the T3i, go with it, otherwise the T2i with the same sensor and video will be the best!

You say
"I'm upgrading my camera since I've had this camera for a while now"
The T3 was only released in February 2011!
As you clearly have more money than you know what to do with why not leap the gap and go for a 60D or a 7D - maybe they will hold your attention a little more than 9 months!
