What lens is good for macro?

I want to get into macro/micro photography, and i have a Nikon D3000 camera. I have been told that the 65mm will work but it doesn't have auto focus, which i won't do because if you're photographing bugs you NEED auto focus for a split second shot. I have looked at this one as well,
AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR
105mm f/2.8G IF-ED
But is it the only one out there that is under a thousand dollars? AND is auto focus? Help!
Added (1). Thats what i meant was 60mm. So the 60mm AF-S will work well?

I have the same camera and have had no problems with my tamron macro lens.specs are 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di (with AF Motor) and has both auto and manual focus.

As far as I can remember there's no current production 65mm Nikon macro lens. Perhaps you are thinking of the 60mm AF-S lens? It's a good lens.
There are three Nikon Macro lenses that will function fully on your screwdriverless D3000:
* AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED
* AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/3.5G ED VR
* AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G
The 105mm seems to have the best optics. The 60mm is more affordable. The 85mm has the smaller image circle and will be hobbled if used on a FF camera. If you plan to take pictures of critters I would probably go with the 105mm.

1) there's no 65 mm Nikkor lens
2) the AF-S 60 mm f/2.8 Nikkor lens does auto-focus, but auto-focus is rarely used by macro photographers. The lens is set to a 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 or 1:4 image to subject ratio and then the camera is moved toward and away from the subject until the subject is in focus.
3) The AF-S 60 mm f/2.8 is auto-focus, where did you hear otherwise? There's an older AF 60 mm f/2.8 which will NOT auto-focus with your entry level camera, but as I noted, for a disciplined macro shooter, this is NOT a big deal
NOTE: "So the 60mm AF-S will work well?" Yes it will. I use that lens for shooting a lot of medical and scientific assignments.
