I have 18-55mm VR Lens, pictures looks fine in the camera but came out blurry in the PC. Recently, I bought 50mm f1/8 AF len. Tried it and still the same issue. I tried to restore MFR setting, still not help. Please help. Do I need to buy a flash? If yes, which one do you recommend?

Blurry pictures are usually caused by the shutter speed being too slow, causing either movement blur in the subject, or camera shake.

The 50mm f1.8 lens is manual focus on your D5000 - are you sure you are focusing correctly? Check the dioptre setting in the viewfinder, as this will matter if you are trying to manually focus a lens.

You only need to add flash if there's not enough light and you can't open the aperture further and/or don't want to raise (or can't) the ISO further.

Further details will be required, preferably sample shots that you can upload to e.g. Www.tinypic.com There are several different possibly causes.

- Is the lens set to manual focus?
- Are you trying to take photos indoors or with a closed down aperture? If so, then the blurriness might be due camera shake caused by to slow shutter speeds that the camera uses to compensate for the lack of light.

Put your camera on auto mode, go outside on a sunny day and take a photo. If the photo is not blurry, then you know it is some setting you are making that is incorrect.

Blur is usually due to slow shutter speed but a wide open aperture and wrong focus point can also cause it. Either way, these are things you need to control when you are out of automatic mode.

Did you remember to turn the AF on? I do that sometimes. XD My camera's AF has to be turned on in two different places; one on the camera body and one on the lens. If they're not both on, AF doesn't work. Also, make sure your shutter speed is high enough, or that you are using a tripod in low-light areas. Good luck!

EDIT: Almost forgot! If you need glasses and you're using manual focus, there should be a little switch-type thing ON the viewfinder. It will move approximately 7-10 clicks (I have never actually counted) up and down, adjusting to your prescription strength so you can shoot without the use of your glasses. That might be why the pic looks good on the camera and not on the screen!

Turn your kit lens 18~55MM switch from M to A You can find it at the side of the lens. For the meantime, set your D5000 to full AUTO by turning the dial to AUTO. The AF 50MM 1.8D won't AF on D5000. You must manually focus it.
