What is 1/25 and f 5.6 stand for in my D5100?

I'm a beginner, i recently bought a nikon D5100 with VR 18-55mm, but i have no idea about many feattures, you can say extreme beginner, can anybody give some info about what is 1/25 and 5.6 stand for?

1/25 stands for 1/25th of a second… Very slow, too slow to hand hold.
f/5.6 is the aperture of the lens

Easiest to understand watching this vid:
1/25 (of a second)= SHUTTER SPEED. 1/25 is faster than 1" second. Fast shutter speed like 1/4000 allows you to take pictures of fast moving objects perfectly still. If you set it on 2" and you're taking a pic of a moving car, you'll just seee a trail of light.
f 5.6 = APERTURE. (how much light you let in depending on the size of the iris)
The lower the number, the more light is let in the camera, makes your image brighter.
f 1.8 would blur the backbround and only focus on the subject and give you very bright image.
f 11 would allow you "un-blur" the background and capture everything in detail but make your image darker.
