ViewNX 2 not converting D7000 NEF Photos?

Long Story Short.
I shot raw photos with my D7000 for a while now and View NX2 [Nikon's default.nef RAW photo application] would be the main program to convert them to jpeg.
However when I right click the photo > Output > Convert Files > Jpeg.
No action is done, not even the loading bar for conversions are showing up.
I have updated firmware on the D7000 and there are no updates for the viewnx 2 software.
Any help would be appreciated.

According to Nikon's web site, ViewNX 2 works with the D7000.

Be sure to download the latest version from their web site and install that.
If that doesn't help, then use dcraw. You can extract the jpeg thumbnails and/or convert nef to tiff or jpg.

The ViewNX2 software that came on CD with my D5600 is clearly very out of date and not compatible with Windows 10. There is a later version online. However there is a newer product too. Go to the Nikon website and choose Imaging Products, search for ViewNX-i, select your camera model and download it. This is a much later version and able to run on Windows 10. Uninstall the old ViewNX 2 software and then install ViewNX-I. T hat solves the issue of "Unsupported File Type" for the .NEF format. Why do Nikon still send out software that is 10 years old with new cameras? Why didn't Nikon post something to tell us about ViewNX-I?
